UPDATE March 2014: It took a really long time, but finally a short video from the gardenia kimchi workshop is available! You can watch snippets in the video clip above.
It is finally up! I've been planning this event for months now after exchanging ideas last year. I think this will be a really light, fun event - combining "two of life's great pleasures." ^^ Hope you can join me if you are in NYC area.
Cooking with Shin and the Kimchi Family
6pm - 8pm, Thursday September 12th @ The Korea Society
Combine two of life's great pleasures: Koean drama and food! Come watch an episode of one of last year's most popular K-Dramas, Kimchi Family, a heartwarming story about a family that owns a traditional Korean restaurant with each episode centered on the preparation of a different type of delicious kimchi. Shin Kim, culinary instructor and food writer, demonstrates, in a hands-on workshop, how to make this show's unusual Gardenia Kimchi, as well as Korean rice balls (jumeokbap) and an end-of-summer pineapple Makgeolli slush! Click here for more details and registration.
If September is too far away, I have a class coming up next Tuesday (8/13) at The Brooklyn Kitchen, making roasted sticky rice cakes, bibimbap, oi muchim (cucumber kimchi salad) and haemul pajeon (seafood scallion pancake). If that's not enough to entice you, there will be beer provided by Great Brewers, too!
I update the class page whenever I have a new class confirmed, which I started adding recently for the fall/winter of 2013. Every class I teach is an opportunity for me to share tips, techniques and stories about Korean cooking beyond the limited written space here, so I hope you can join me at one of the upcoming cooking classes!
See you soon~
